The Lazy Egg

Awesome! Food was great and as we were walking in, not knowing the Chef was outside as we said hello, we sit and a couple minutes later butterfly pancakes arrived at the table because, "The chef was bored." Haha Thank you! I ordered the cream chipped beef and it was about as homemade as possible. Tasted just like my grandmother used to make it. Took me right back to my childhood. Will definitely be back. Two thumbs up.

Outside doesn't look vey promising, but very clean inside! Fast, attentive service. Good size servings without being too much. Economical- 5 people ate for only $61 ($71 after tip), & no be of us left hungry (2 doggy bags! ). Bathroom was SPOTLESS! Very pleased & hope to be able to go there again!

Tim (owner) and his crew provide everything that would classically be associated with a small town American diner: homey, simple, uncomplicated venue coupled with excellent food, friendly service...all at reasonable cost. Discover this gem in Compass, PA

Bring your appetite! We're so happy to have found this place. Good food, good prices, and great atmosphere. The waitress was wonderful and went out of her way to make our son's birthday breakfast extra special. Will definitely be back.

Based on the building design and interior layout I believe it was a bar in it's former life and certainly not high end. As usual I ordered my standard test breakfast of a bacon cheese omelet with well done home fries. I do this for comparison sake. The omelet was perfect. Fluffy, not dried out and looked to be 3 eggs with plenty of bacon. The home fries are always a mystery as to why it's such and issue to make them crispy. That also applies here. A few potatoes on the outside were crisped but the rest were topically softish. Home fries that she soft are just like eating boiled sliced potatoes. That being said the coffee was fresh, the toast was perfect and the omelet delicious. The service and friendliness of the staff further enhanced the visit. If you don't need fancy and we'll done potatoes you're in the right spot. I would have given them a 5 had the decor been up to snuff and the potatoes been cooked correctly.

An absolute hidden gem. Coming from a small town I have incredibly high standards when I use the term “just like grandma used to make”. When entering The Lazy Egg you are warmly greeted by the staff who immediately make you feel like an old friend coming for a visit. My fiancé and I were seated and we were pleasantly surprised by both the reasonable prices and the great variety of dishes on offer. We opted for breakfast the portions wear tremendous, eggs were cooked flawlessly (seems basic but there’s a touch of the divine in a perfectly cooked omelet). I ordered Hash and from the first bite it felt like I was a little kid transported back to grandmas kitchen. So whether you are looking for cozy ambience, friendly staff, reasonable prices or just a little touch of nostalgia I highly recommend The Lazy Egg.
